Anyway . . .
I went to the barbershop today. It’s run by two Middle Eastern guys, one experienced and one not. Unfortunately, only the rookie was free, so I was stuck with him.
I asked for a tapered fade on the sides and back. I never cut the hair on top because I have a small head, so I need the length. He then said, "fade . . .". He started stalling and looking around. My gut told me a fade was out of his depth.
After he did the trim and the outline, it was time for the fade. He suddenly said he needs to go, and that the other more experienced guy will finish the cut. I was so relieved.
Once I hopped on the other seat, the other guy continued with the fade. Once the fade was done, he then started to spray water all over the top of head to prepare to cut the top. I told him politely to leave the top alone, just cut the sides and back. He continued as instructed, but then this dumb motherfucker tried to cut my top again (the fringe area). I moved my head away by instinct and again politely told him to leave the top. He then said in his terrorist accent, "but brother, look, this side is slightly longer than the other side". I told him that's fine, I still want to keep it like that. The difference was literally half a centimetre.
In my head I was like, 'Yes, moron, that's because I sweep my hair to the side, and the longer length gives it more structure. Just accept that I know my hair better than you. What doesn't make sense to you, makes sense to me'.
He then hurried up the rest of the haircut and seemed to look a little offended. He didn't spray me with that nasty acidic lemon spray at the end, thankfully.
When I went up to pay, he was avoiding eye contact and didn't respond to my thanks and just overall seemed a little butt-hurt. It's strange: imagine being upset for a guy paying you to not cut some of his hair.
I can assure you I was polite the whole way through. As I am a pussy in real life and very high-inhibition, I don't have the courage to be assertive or rude.
With the way he acted today, I'm not surprised he has to cut other men's hair for a living, considering he can't even handle a simple "no". Also, his job is kinda gay: his purpose in life is to beautify other men.
This guy does fades really well. But now I'll have to find another barber. What a shame.
Why do people act so weird man.
