For many animals there is an idiomatic expression about a group or gregation. Often, this expression reflects some attribute of that animal or our attitudes toward that animal. A pack of wolves, a swarm of flies, a flock of birds, a haunting of Endermen. So, what word do we use for a group of normies?

Picture several noisy young people walking down the street, wearing the obligatory Earbuds (as they mindlessly follow trends and demand the latest tech), laughing, shrieking, bragging about their experiences endlessly. The men are vying for attention from the foids. Inconsiderate, gullible, delusional, and yet they are the ones having fun and sex, largely for being lucky.

Find THE word to fit in the blank: A ___ of normies

A Cluster of normies

A crowd of normies

I think swarm is good. They are like insects, feasting on the rotting carcass of our generosity.

They are the Horde. Altough swarm would be more appropriate, Bauman used it too.

Ein Rudel Halbaffen.
(Only works in German)

"Swarm" is the term I'll use for a large group of them from now on.

However "swarm" is only suitable for a large group. We know that, outside of organized activities, the gregarious pattern of normies is typically groups of 2 to 10, which can be no less annoying when you encounter them.

I'm thinking "a band of normies" as in "a band of rogues", though it might be misunderstood e.g. as a rock band. Someone might know a more suitable word

Oder eher "eine Bande Halbaffen".
Oh I see, German used a generic collective noun but changed the noun itself. Clever. Duden says the word is literally "half-monkey" and refers to a few species of funny-looking monkeys...

I was about to say we could try to fit crazier words there, think "a murder of crows". But this is also good

German has words for everything :feelsokman:
Yes, there are more ways to insult someone. :feelskek:

The term "Rudel" (pack) is actually used for dogs, not for monkeys.
A "half-monkey" (Halbaffe) is a term for a particularly stupid idiot (who have a big mouth), or several idiots, who appear in a group (Halbaffen). By the way, I like monkeys, the animals. "Half-monkeys," on the other hand, haven't even managed to develop (intellectually) into monkeys. :feelsthink:
