Depends what you mean by worse. I think it would be correct to say society considers rape to be more "obscene" than murder. There's a few examples that illustrate this. In your average youtube video, creators will censor the words "rape" or "sexual assault" but they say murder without a problem. In video games, the act of killing has been trivialized, yet rape still remains clearly out of bounds. Even in Grand Theft Auto, you can mow down people by the dozens for fun. You can kill a hooker, you can't rape her though. As soon as she's scared, the option of fucking her is GONE.

Yes, this is true and I agree. However, OP is discussing what society considers, and I would argue it does see rape as the ultimate worst crime.

Also, at least when it comes to murder, depending on your definition I guess, you could have a justifiable reason for committing murder, whether it be combat in war, protecting a loved one, stopping a villain, or a myriad of other scenarios. The same isn't true for rape. You can't rape for the greater good. Rape is an entirely self-serving act committed to satisfy the one doing it at the cost of the victim's dignity. From this perspective, it's possible to see why rape is more viscerally disgusting despite not being the more serious crime in terms of consequence.
