The problem is that you don't really get to pick your emotions, they aren't rational like that. I don't really believe in free will, so I also don't believe that it makes any sense to blame people for how they treat me. But even though I don't actually blame them, it doesn't make the anger go away. Whether or not someone else arbitrary decides that I have a "right to my feelings", it's not going to make them disappear.
