Personality isn't something you can just change. Majority of personality is subconscious and formed during your developmental years. I'm not just making stuff up either, this has been scientifically proven. https://www.rutgers.edu/news/childrens-personality-traits-provide-insight-adult-behavior
When you're a child your environment and upbringing effects your personality. On average studies have shown that children with good upbringings and lots of friends growing up tend to do well as adults.

Unfortunately the opposite is true as well. Bad childhood experiences can negatively effect your personality and fuck up your hardwiring just as much as good ones. A great example of this is the numerous studies published on the mental effects of abuse as well as spanking and corporate punishment. Specifically with spanking oftentimes the child would develop anti social and violent traits afterwards that followed them into adulthood https://www.reuters.com/article/idU...lth) - Children who, note in JAMA Network Open.
Bullying has a similar effect on childhood development. If someone is obsessively bullied with no social safety net they're likely to become anti-social. Specifically boys https://www.sciencedaily.com/releas...arassment,seemed to elicit more victimization.
The unfortunate truth is that a good quantity of unattractive people are both men caremistreated by their parents (which is very common to happen to the unattractive) https://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=4678922
And get bullied in school which leads them to have anti social and apathetic personalities as adults. It's been demonstrated that both ugly men and women are more likely to commit crime due to the perceived discrimination they faced in highschool https://papers.ssrn.com/sol3/papers.cfm?abstract_id=894062
At the end of the day your personality is decided by your experiences throughout adolescence. If during those developmental years your wiring becomes fucked up the damage can never be undone. In regards to inkwells not all of us are fucked up like this but a good deal most likely are. Yes you can fake having whatever personality but it'll never be genuine. If your personality is truly fucked by a bad childhood no amount of therapy or drugs can make you normal. You'll always be odd and strange to people. You can try to fake it but eventually whatever ghost that hides behind the mask of your face is going to show itself and people will be scared away.
