Call it simping if you like, but I actually do care whether some random woman lives or dies enough that I wouldn't mind going to the PHYSICAL effort of a heimlich to resuscitate her even if I got nothing in return. Maybe it's reading Spider-Man but I feel a surge in my basic humanity.
I'm not worried about covid (you perform heimlich from the rear, fuck the 6ft long as it's not mouth to mouth I think there's minimal risk) but what I would worry about is being sued.
Either you break a rib doing the heimlich and they claim it wasn't needed (this would be a risk even w/ helping men) or they'd accuse you of sexually assaulting her, and unless there was evidence proving she was choking, it'd be heresay and everyone would just side with the lie, even rewriting their memory of the situation out of convenience of believing women.
So that's probably what would cause me to hesitate. Maybe it won't matter and some other white knight will swoop in, or maybe eventually all the men hesitate because of the MeToo culture and women who talk while they eat begin to just fade away from natural selection.
Basically the Q is if a random woman you don't know is worth the mental/emotional/legal risk since the physical expenditure of a heimlich is minimal compared to those. I think I'd be more likely to do it for a GF who is not likely to sue you.
