serial killing would be too hard today. surveillence cams everywhere. very easy to catch compared to the 70s. not even remotely comparable.

i mean, think in details. where tf Ted gonna pick up girls? Bars? nightclub? all have cams. on the road? cams. university dorms? cams and security doors (which stopped ER from massacring the sorority house btw.). random killing on the street? again, foids usually avoid it. and if they dont, chances are its a safer street, which should have more traffic, maybe some shops (again, cams). how would you even get away with it? if you kill and then escape, returning to home, would you be sure you wouldnt be seen by a cam?

theres very good reason why serial killing is almost gone these days. simply no longer feasible.

No it’s easier to get away with murder these days. 33% of killers get away with it now, compared to 10% decades ago. Also, I don’t think that’s why serial killers are gone now, they all became mass shooters

one should not compare stats so casually

idk your sources but lets say 33% now, 10% decades ago. what it doesnt tell you is that total number of murders as well as murder rate in general has gone down significantly in US from 1990s. so the context is different.

just an example, perhaps murder these days are more gang related, so people dont snitch, driving the get away rate up. while in the past, murders were more prevalent but a lot were done by small time robbers and more easily caught.

Murder rate being lower isn’t proof it’s harder to get away with it, maybe people are just less homicidal and grew in a good environment
