In my country, there are people working in very severe conditions with minimum wage for at least 10 hours a day and can hardly feed.
House prices are overly expensive. Living in a cheap house can also mean living in a remote part of the city. If thats the case, you also need to spend 2 hours a day on the bus
In markets, fast food restaurants, you don't have any hope working in the service sector. Because you have 0 opportunity to make a career you do not have the opportunity to specialize in a profession. What can you earn by placing products on the shelf and passing products through the safe?
It's like this, you leave the house in the morning and come in the evening. You don't have time to read books, improve yourself. You can't wear what you want, you can't eat, you can't go where you want. It's like you're shuttling between the place you work and the house. A person with a minimum wage CANNOT socialize in any way. You also get tired of your mind and body all day long.
When it comes to prison, the situation of prisons in Turkey is far better than wagecucking. There is no violence like in the US, the guards don't interfere with everything. They check twice a day (counting), they give your food and you get stuck. At any time, you go to the library and read books and develop yourself intellectually. You wear what you want, you don't have to shave. You can watch as many TVs as you want. It's even possible to complete four year university departments from open education. Of course, this doesn't apply to 'F' type prisons, but in the end, you are using your time wisely. It's more acceptable than working at minimum wage.
What would you do if someone asked you do you want to work for a minimum wage job for the rest of your life or go to jail? I'm honestly considering going jail. It's over.
