I dont think originally Tifa supposed to look asian, in advent children everyone looked asian, in kingdom hearts and crisis core neither Cloud or Tifa looked asian. In the remake they created more differences between Aerith and Tifa so they could sell the waifu thing better. She still look much more asian in the movies than ingame.

tifa looks somewhat eurasian or postsurgerymaxx east asian. Really east asians don't know how they look due to plastic surgery, their ideal look is eurasian one ( maybe not european but eurasian )
