I think that if you do nothing, your chances with her will not change or even be slightly elevated, because her self-image has been damaged and she is now more likely to accept you since now she no longer considers herself above you.


However, if you do intervene, I think the following will happen:

She will see you as an orbiter/white knight. You are her willing protector. Now she does not feel like she has anything to earn from you (romantic or otherwise) because you already gave her everything for free.
