No. Game prices may be increasing, but so are prices everywhere. Other hobbies have become pricier as well, so gaming isn't/likely won't become that expensive comparatively.

Yes, the Neo Geo was even worse. It delivered an almost 1:1 arcade experience at home but it was and still is super expensive.
The 3DO barely even had any games and the price tag really doesn't justify getting it just for those games.
Afaik most if not all of its best game were also released on the PS1.

The N64 was ok, nothing more.
The Dreamcast came to late to save Sega and to early to the sixth gen party because it was lacking in every department other than its online capability and back the the masses didn't care for it enough.
Sega should have NEVER released the Saturn and scraped it to focus all their resources on the Dreamcast instead.
They could have still released it in 99 or maybe even earlier.
I remember reading about a Sega Pluto, btw. That thing has the Sega hardware and had online capabilities. It has some dial up modem. I think a 32kb variant. Not sure.

It just depends on what you play. If you play CS, Valorant, PUBG and that type of shit gaming is essentially free.
If you play a few indie games it is still cheap. Maybe you spend 200 euros a year on a random set of games and play those.
If you play gachashit, and just spend 20-30 bucks a month on getting the good shit, it is also still relatively cheap.
It is easy to overspend though. Only the newest slop is expensive, and Nintendo bullshit.
