Robins was getting older and not relevant anymore so im assuming he couldnt face not being in movies and standup and getting paid the big bucks like he used to. ego thing mixed with drugs "meds"

This. I think that the fact that they are rich and famous can make them more depressed. Their lives are on easy mode, they no longer have to work for anything, just buy it and then get bored of it. They can never know if someone likes them, as a person, or if they are just using them. Their privacy is pretty much dead or dying.
And worst of all, if they reach out to someone and tell them how depressed they feel as a response they'll likely get a "STFU you're rich and famous you can't be sad.", which will make them even more isolated and even guilty for being depressed.
