Its not arbitrary. Technically, 30 isn't even considered that old but its the cusp of entering into middle age. Male brains will have finished developing, they are likely to have entered into their career of choice and should more or less have settled into themselves both emotionally and financially.

Teens through twenties can vary widely depending on the individual in terms of maturity and potential. Its not unheard of for there to be late bloomers in the mid 20's or later. Its one of the reasons why many oldcels frown upon those that claim 'Its over' before they get to that point. You never know what manner of opportunity may occur, or breakthrough you might make. 30 is a 'safe number' where when you reach the threshold, there can be no doubt as to your status as an incelibate male as all options and venues will have been exhausted. Males are no longer guaranteed decent paying professions like in the 50's by simply leaving high school. Most people are rent burdened and can't afford houses. Hypergamy has become excessively blatant due to things like social media, and I don't think its hyperbole to claim we are in the early stages of fisherian runaway. Less and less men are graduating higher education. All these factors and more make it difficult to decisively adopt the 'forever alone' label because sexual access for men in general is being pushed farther back due women's preferences. For failed normies in particular, this is where betabuxx comes into play.

The average life expectancy is also another factor. 'Oldcel' would be relative in past generations; and the teens to twenty year olds would actually make a valid point as opposed to looking like clowns. Not in modern day paradigm imo.

And let's face it, labeling anything 'old' in respect to the adolescents and twenties age group just sounds silly. Those are objectively prime years. So you can call yourself a cel, but there's nothing 'old' about them.
