Why do you think history attracts so many weirdos and spergs compared to the rest of humanities?

Ded srs I respect history as the study of the past but it attracts so many weirdos I distance myself from them. Just check social media comments or soyit threads and you will see a pattern. From what I see history attracts:
-Band kids who make unfunny memes trying to be smart and edgy but fail
-People with extreme political opinions
-Larpers who like to pretend to be a crusader, a roman centurion, wehrmacht soldier, etc.

You don't see this kind of people in other parts of humanities like literature, anthropology, classics, etc. Philosophy also tends to attract weirdos but they're the pretentious smart kind not the cringe type. Maybe it's because history is more simple and accessible? Also good to note that this type of people are very obsessed with military history to the point it's the only kind of history they focus. Ask them something outside Rome, medieval warfare or the 20th century and they will be very lost kek. I always thought being obsessed with war and military is a childish trait.

brutal noreply pill

It's very niche, easy to learn from wikipedia, they get surface level knowledge and then act like smartasses.

I think that it attracts many nationalists for sure...like ooga booga, we wuzzers etc

History attracts those who want to idealize the past and detest the present/future. They're just people full of grievances and anger in general.

literature anthro and classics also attracts weirdos because of the same reason

I started learning history because I found out I was being lied to. The more I studied the more I understood how easy it was to prove many conspiracies. History is littered with them.

History makes you feel even more inferior. Normshits concoct versions of history that console them. Hence the invention of Alternate History.

It takes a retarded person to get significant pleasure from questionably accurate history.

I respect them because they are gigatruecels, Liechtenstein winning the world cup is more probable than those guys having a girlfriend.

humanities needs to be banned

I have a B.A. in history and this is me.

Just Rome alone has enough history it would take someone a whole lifetime to learn it. Lonely guys with autism loves that shit

Yep, equivalent to people going to google and typing "why do my farts smell like shit"

For me history was always what Lord of of the Rings or Warhammer40k was for others some mysterious alternate world which were much interesting and exciting then my life

Thanks for roasting me

Because there is simply no other choice . A Italian will praise ancient Rome and to dig deeper into Rome he has to study history. Any engineer fascinated by mechanics will be forced to study the history of the indsutrial revolution. Etc etc etc etc
