Is there something about anime that makes it innately appealing to uggos of both genders? I just don't get it, why did Japanese cartoons become synonymous with incels/autistics?

never liked anime

becasue is funny and have coomer bait, or giant mechs in my case

Used to be the case but now it’s totally normified

When did the normification start?
Began gradually in the early-to-mid 2010s thanks to shows like SAO, Attack on Titan, OPM, etc. getting huge, but anime never became truly normie until the COVID lockdown caused it to skyrocket in popularity (since normoids were bored at home and exhausted all of their ZOGflix slop catalog)

real anime is the only non ZOGged form of media on the planet: deep and poignant renditions of the human condition, cute 2d girls, beautiful animation; what is not to like?
also there are like 0 female anime "fans" who appreciate the classics; anime needs to be gatekept more

I'd agree. Before Covid anime was still kind of a niche thing which only nerds truly cared about but now even among normies it's quite easy to find someone who likes some sort of shonen anime (primarily AOT and Naruto). I remember back in middle school I was sitting next to some trucel fatcel and he was watching No Game No Life/ Classroom Of The Elite episodes on his phone and since I was bored I watched with him kek.

Not knocking anyone who likes it btw, but the looks-connection is obviously there.

Because the anime is a deep fantasy of theirs that could never be fulfilled in their life, in the beginning of nearly all anime its a nobody main character that is a unawakened incel that thru hardwork and hope gets the hottest girl in the series and live happily ever after, a life they want to live but they're genetics carved a different path for them

I’ve only liked a couple of animes they are normally too cringy to watch

Its just drawn out fantasies that writers everywhere else in the world are too embarrassed to include in their works. The average manga author makes the likes of John Byrne, Alan Moore, or Garth Ennis look like prudes. I mean at least they try to have a story but then you get to some anime and you can tell it just itches so badly to get to this one part that plays over and over in the mangaka's head so they skip over any sensible feeling of consciousness that could be had for a fictional character and jump straight to the set-pieces. But of course you have the copers come in and say the obviously hedonistic structures of it all are just themes and subtext but if anyone wanted to enjoy it then I say more power to them.

Yeah no anime is a completely normie thing now, most foids in the west watch it. I have even seen some chads/tyrones even talking about AoT, jjk, or one piece. I’d go as far as to say that it’s fairly uncommon/aspie to write off anime completely, as crazy as that sounds I’ve had teachers who talked about anime/manga, one was a completely normal guy with a family and had followed a manga called “Kingdom” for more than a decade.

Literally all of my friend groups have people that have read manga or watch anime. One time I was reading a manga on my laptop in public and some normie came up to my and recognized it, I don't think this would’ve happened in the past. 15 years ago it was brony tier basically, crazy how the internet has influenced the perception of anime.
