Apocrine glands. I knew this one curry guy and he always smellt like earwax and it was very distinct, you could smell it like 20 feet away. I really felt bad for the guy.

Also it could be because of the foods they eat. I don't think east-asians tend to smell like anything since they tend to have the least body odor.
