I always think that I am financially illiterate and naive when I look at this but afaik most people on welfare actually have jobs and work full or part time. Even most homeless people have jobs and the minority use drugs or alcohol. In addition to that, I dont understand this argument from demographic change resulting in reduced welfare state because people have less children. As @Extern said, if you look at military spending, they blast an entire persons life-time welfare cost on a single rocket, vehicle etc. I just don't buy that we live in this organic system where the problem is simply people having no children. It completely ignores that there are trillions missing from the pentagon budget that were never accounted for, think about it, trillions of dollars are wasted on corruption etc, yet they role the blame off onto some sub5 slave wagie as if it's his fault he is living in poverty.

If your welfare state is failing due to factors like lower birthrate, why would you cut the welfare state and not the military budget? The stupid F-35 development cost is 40 billion and thats nothing, read: "While development alone was roughly this amount, the entire program's total lifecycle cost—covering procurement, development, and over 90 years of maintenance and operations—is projected to reach over $2.1 trillion"
Another thing. The welfare system is not designed to benefit people primarily. There are other incentives that people miss. For example if you look at the creation of welfare programs like food stamps, big companies like walmart were actually actively advocating for people to get foodstamps. Why? Because as I said, most people on welfare actually work and they work low status jobs like being wagies at wallmart. So wallmart can reduce the wages of workers and the government then pays for the damage walmart is doing to society, by taking money from the same wagies that walmart just fucked over with low wages. So they are making you pay for walmarts exploitation of workers + the wagies are forced to spend the food stamps at places like walmart. So the incentive is not your welfare but your enslavement to benefit industrialists.
