Why do anime NEETs wear tracksuits?

I noticed this pattern for example Rudeus, Subaru, Kazuma, etc. All of them wore tracksuits in their past reclusive NEET lives. Is this a stereotype in Japan or something? Because I associate tracksuits with thugmaxxed normies or school gym class not with some truecel with social anxiety who doesn't leave his bedroom kek
