I used to be a communist, so I think my input holds some weight when I say that they don't have a coherent ideology and never have or ever will. There are so many splits in communist ideology because most warsaw pact countries just ended up making random shit up as they went and completely ignored what Marx and Engels put forward, only using them for slogans and such.

That's still how it is today, it's just that commies nowadays are mainly found in jewniversity settings. They're still just making shit up as they go, guided by no sense of right or wrong, only emotion.
