I recently saw a clip from a film about Jeffrey Dahmer and how he was a social loner, and it got me thinking about something: the 1970s is the decade most synonymous with serial killers, and it's generally believed that we have a lower frequency of them today.
But logically, that makes little sense to me. All the indicators/predictors of anti-social / perverse behaviour among young men are higher today than ever. Examples:
-A young man today is far more likely to be raised by a single mother than in the 1970s (increased likelihood of, well, basically everything shitty)
-A young man today is far more likely to have had homosexual experiences in their adolescence (a solid half of serial killers were "bisexual" and admitted to engaging in sex acts with men voluntarily)
-Being a social outcast and have no friends/girlfriends throughout high school and college, as hypergamy and social media have made things a million times worse for young men today than they were in the 1970s
-Shitty economic prospects
-Inspiration from the now dozens of films and shows made on the topic of serial killers, and information hidden in those media on how to better get away with it
-The list goes on
Thoughts?
