It´s probably due do modern medicine, high octane nutrition(fast food) and genetics. But I think the main factor is energy dense foods packed with added vitamins and minerals. The genetic potential is probably almost maxed.

I don't know about where you from but I'll speak for east asia.
Lots of people from countries like Philippines tend to be poor, shortening their already short statue. That said there are very tall Filipinos people I know. One is 6'5.
Generally we east asian tend to eat rice opposed to wheat products which aren't as protein dense, and we would eat more vegans opposed to meat and drink less milk. These food may be more healthy in long term but they're less protein dense and promotes less growth.
