because its religious to them.
they even "jokingly" call the gym the temple of the iron god
a ton of them are also g4p (gay for pay)

nobody goes to the gym for health, its all vanity
the people that go for health already have some condition and the doctor tells them
listen if you want to see your kids live past 18, you have to do sports for your heart

but 99% of them are there for vanity
but since gym doesnt improve anything except gay guys now hit on you
they cope by tryhardmaxxing
its sunken cost fallacy etc...
