You need to have perspective and compare Japan to other gook or non white countries to see how accomplished they are, instead of the typical Western bias where a first world quality of life is taken for granted
Then the comparison has to be made with "secular liberal countries" (read: Europe)
IMO, the main problem is that every time people talk about Japan's problems (which, in my opinion, way too often happens just because people want to give them and other high-income Gooks claims to oppression and victimhood, because they don't like the idea of there being ethnic countries that don't have them), there isn't
any such specification as to who they should be compared to, or any mention of other countries for comparison at all. That, combined with the empathy gap between the amount Japs get compared to most other peoples on the planet and people's wish to make them seem oppressed, then easily leads to people not understanding that some problem is a thing in which Japan even can be compared to other countries, rather than something unique to them.
And that's in cases when Japan itself is talked about, rather than something that is a worldwide problem you could find anywhere, but it's popularly seen as only a Japanese/East Asian problem, because people have only minimal empathy to the lower-income 85% of the world, and people by default see white countries as better than they are.
As a perfect example of that, let's look at:
Japs coined the term, but they are absolutely nowhere to leading the world when it comes to deaths from overwork. In fact, they'd have trouble to make it to the world average.
Here's a more readable version of the graphs above, which made me feel like punching through a wall when I first saw it:
en.wikipedia.org
Quite the chart to see as an Eastern European

. Really, as Eastern Europeans, we are getting hit with the opposite of what Japs get; while people are desperate to give them oppression and victimhood claims by minimizing how good they have it compared to the rest of the world for racial reasons (them being ethnics who can't claim to be oppressed), foreigners, and increasingly even many people here, smooth over EE's problems because they don't like the feeling of their worldviews being challenged by the existence of overwhelmingly white countries which have a good amount of victimhood claims. I guess that's why it's hard for me to not notice this.
Guess how many times in my life I've been told that one of the countries bordering mine is comparable to Japan when it comes to deaths from overwork (Poland), and another is far ahead of it (Ukraine)? Zero times in my life. If this discussion here, on an incel forum, hadn't prompted me to search for this information, I wouldn't have known about it at all, because nobody ever mentions it, because they likewise don't know it.
But how many times have I been told that Japs and other Gooks just work
so hard
, their culture just destroys them you know

, we need to pity them because their non-Western culture just treats them like worker ants, they are just worked to the bone, it's so brutal to be them

? More times in my life than I can count

. Even talking purely about Japan being an outlier given its GDP per capita, by 2016, which is where this data is from, Poland had about 70% of its GDP per capita, so those two countries can still perfectly be compared, and one has had people crying about how hard it is from them for how much they supposedly have to work, while the other's problems are ignored.
It can be tricky to compare racial and gender issues and differences, but the way East Asians are pitied for no reason on this issue while everyone else just dies with nobody batting an eye makes this specific comparison hard not to make

Probably the funniest instance of this I saw was a Visual Capitalist article about OECD countries' average annual working hours, with the Japanese figure of course countering the Jap victimhood narrative, so it specifically got a paragraph at the end talking about how it's lower than it should be

, because 40% of Japanese workforce is part-time, as if those part-timers weren't Japs as well, basically telling the reader to ignore
40% of the data on a specific country so their worldview doesn't get changed

.
Where do people work the most? Explore our analysis of the average annual working hours across OECD countries.
www.visualcapitalist.com
Of course, no other comments of the percentage of other countries' part-time workers anywhere to be found in that article

.
And this is how it goes with most of the issues mentioned here:
They have a lower NEET rate then OECD average and I already linked the part-time stats above.
en.wikipedia.org
Similar to above, their numbers are more-or-less in line with Mediterranean and Eastern European countries with whom they cluster GDP per capita-wise.

Eh studyslave culture, dalit esque castes, feudal system, suppressed ethnic minorities and brutal social pressures etc aren’t really unique to Japan most countries have or had this.
Don’t see how Japan is especially fucked up considering it’s the most developed non white country
Exactly. Especially when it comes to the studying aspect, the actual stats for that are comical, because:
inhuman school hours (an extremely notions-oriented system that occupies 10 hours a day of the student's time if not more, adding their cram school culture),
It is dishonorable to fail classes, get average grades, not dedicate your soul to your job,
Japanese kids spend much less time studying than OECD average:
They both spend much less time on homework than others, and actually have on average shorter school days than Americans for example:
Interesting details on the average school day length by country, showcasing the amount of time students spend in school on average.

This one is just hilarious. I guess because Korea and China do fit that stereotype much better even according to actual data, most people just assume it's the same for Japan as well, but let's not pretend like people look at data first and form their opinions based on that. It really seems to mostly just be people trying to give Japs, and to a lesser extent other high-income Gooks, claims to oppression and victimhood at any cost.
not getting married and having children (which is borderline impossible in the society that they imposed on japanese people)
Falling fertility and relationships are a problem everywhere. If anything, the one thing it's going to lead to is less ability for low-income ethnics to cope by believing that there is something they beat developed countries in.
there is 0 space to stand out, which doesn't mean to jestermaxx and troon out, but to express in artistic means, have irregular hobbies, hold certain beliefs that contradict the mainstream, eat, drink, or walk different than others.
Eh, YMMV on that. They are the world's second biggest cultural exporter after all. The average Japanese artist can just put their work, however mid (or even below it) it is, out there, on Pixiv or wherever, and have foreigners gushing over it due to the "thing, Japan" effect.
