No, they did not flee, they were robbed bare, everything from their livestock down to their last possession was stripped away. My father was the only one, who survived, among a family of about 8-9 children (do not remember the exact number) who all starved to death.

No, he wasn't born yet, but his family was already impoverished afterward, and his mother told him how it was before the revolution.
By the end of her life, his mother had saved up a bunch of money, which in the end, all got nullified, the atrocities of the Soviet regime cannot be overstated, it was purely led by Satan.

So the 8-9 dead people came before your father. I thought your dad lived through their deaths. Assuming you were born rather late, that would still put your dad as a 50s-60s boomer at the earliest. Still a lot of gap between that and the revolution or the famine. This would also suggest your dad's disdain comes less from his own lived experience and more from his mom.
Either way , I was basing my assessment on what those countries did and what they stood for. US has footprints in atrocities across the globe. I wouldn't say they were as evil as european colonial empires or that the Soviets were innocent in such matters but we are making a comparison here.
Correct, I misspoke really badly, Idrk what I was on about, this is a facepalm moment for me, what I really meant is, on my father's side, his mom was one of 8 children, out of which only 6 survived, her and her brother. She lived through the revolution and told my dad about it, how all the sheep, pigs and chickens were stolen.
