I looked at the data of my own generation, so that unskews things a bit.

Old people become shorter, and also kids are better fed these days, which combined with better medicine caused an increase in height.

Anecdotally, I have seen only 3 men in the past year that were visibly shorter than me, and women my age that are shorter than me are also relatively rare.
