Discussion Which country would you say receives the lowest attention globally in relation to its population?

Ngl, I think I'd agree with this commenter that Tanzania probably takes this. Bangladesh got lots of attention during the revolution there recently and they are getting growing recognition over their economic growth, Indonesia is in one of the world's most geopolitically-relevant regions and if you think of SEA, you think of Indonesia, Mozambique is similarly obscure to Tanzania but has a lower population, DR Congo is at least infamous. Yeah, I don't think anyone quite matches Tanzania in this regard.

It's an interesting thing to think about, but nobody really tracks it. The people behind the Soft Power Index use nations' "familiarity", but that's different from attention, though it overlaps a bit for sure, and they of course don't do per capita calculations or whatever.

I was thinking ethopia first but Tanzania is probably the right answer. Ethopia is in constant tension with their neighbors and there was even a semi genocide there a few years ago.

Yup. Ethiopia also joined BRICS recently, so that also gives them a bit more attention then before.

I found out just a few days ago that Kazakhstan's population is actually only barely more than half of Uzbekistan's. Wild.
