I was looking at rent prices in my area and all these prices are extortionate. Even studio apartments have you spending 80% of your salary on them. I’m young so I don’t have experience with paying bills but surely things weren’t this bad say 5 years ago

Yea it's rough in the west. It's best you live with your family until things get better (if they ever get better)

kids have it so easy these days :soy:

These days are better than they've ever been:
The Average American Today Is 90 Times Richer Than The Average Historical Human Being
there is just no one at all who suffers from what has been the usual human description of poverty. Actually, there’s no one at all in the US who has anything even close to what the human experience has been of poverty. By any historical, and by standards of all too large a part of the world today, all Americans are simply hugely, gargantuanly, richer than any but the fewest, most privileged, of our forefathers.

What should really leap out at you is how poor the past actually was. England in 1600 AD was at $1,000 a year.

As Brad Delong has mordantly pointed out more than once, historical living standards never fell very far below that $600 a year for every long, because if they do then they becoming dying standards, not living ones. People just don’t survive on less than that.
However, we sure do have a lot of people still talking about poverty so what are they on about? The truth is they’re not talking about poverty at all. They’re talking about how some have more than others: inequality. Maybe that is a problem in itself, maybe we should even have a public policy to try to reduce it. But inequality is a very different thing from actual poverty and the two also need to be dealt with in different ways.

Supposedly when Joe Biden became president but idk for sure cause I don’t pay much attention to the economy tbh

The (((capitalists))) came up with a meme virus, then used it as an excuse to price gouge us while they got richer than ever before.

Just because things were mega shit back in the day, doesn't mean that they aren't shit today. This article is a cope, probably written by some faggot boomer.
