Reading stamina refers to your ability to sustain focused reading for extended periods without losing concentration, comprehension, or motivation. It’s like mental endurance for engaging with text, whether it’s a novel, academic paper, or dense report. Building and maintaining reading stamina is crucial for students, professionals, or anyone tackling long form content, especially in an age of constant distractions and shrinking attention spans.

Key aspects of reading stamina include:
  1. Focus and Concentration: Reading stamina depends on your ability to stay immersed in the material. Distractions (like notifications or mental fatigue) can break this focus, reducing how long you can read effectively.
  2. Comprehension: Stamina isn’t just about time spent reading but also retaining and understanding what you read. If comprehension fades, you’re just skimming, not truly reading.
  3. Mental Energy: Reading, especially complex texts, requires cognitive effort. Fatigue, stress, or lack of interest can drain this energy quickly.
  4. Habit and Practice: Like physical stamina, reading stamina improves with consistent practice. The more you read, the longer you can sustain it.
In short, strong reading stamina enhances learning, critical thinking, and productivity. It allows you to tackle complex texts, stay informed, and enjoy deep dives into topics without feeling overwhelmed. In academic or professional settings, it’s essential for processing large volumes of information efficiently.

I haven't read any books in like a decade

I haven't read any books in like a decade
Not uncommon is my guess. I probably average around 5-7 books in a year these days, although in my early 20s during college I was reading 3 or 4 books per month.

Depends on how interesting it is.

If it isn't interesting at all then I dnr.

If it's good I can go non-stop.

Hard to quantify since it depends on how much I enjoy what I’m reading, I can read through 200+ page light novels very easily but something more technical with actual prose like a Russian novel or some shit I can only do like 50-80 pages

I will read every word

I didn't even read this post what makes you think I read books

Around 10 pages.

It used to be higher tbh, the internet has rotted my brain

I haven't read a book in years

I could easily read hundreds of pages in a few hours some years ago. Now i cant even read 5 pages before getting bored

Depends on how good the book is.
