What's with the stars under name?

What's with the stars in profile and how some have more stars with less posts and some has less stars with more posts? Can someone explain?

I saw a profile which has 1000 something or similar posts but only one star

You can see the rank legend when you click on your profile

Whenever you get a new rank it resets to 1
