It gives you an extra layer of privacy. Sometimes you may find yourself on a network that blocks certain sites and a vpn will help you get around those restrictions.

doesnt do nothing and its pricy dont see the point inusing it

Doesn't do anything unless you wanna change your IP and pretend in your a different country, plus most sites either restrict or block VPNs due to being used for bypassing bans and many people use them which is why you're forced to do Captchas.

If you want actual privacy and anonymity use Tor which routes your connection through three nodes instead of having one intermediary between you and the server, making the connection extremely difficult to trace back to you.

In terms of VPN Providers Mullvad is the best for privacy and security (they had been raided by the feds but didn't keep logs) with VPNs there's always a layer of trust for them not to keep logs of your connection and you never know if they ever will, plus the VPN provider does know who you are via billing information.

I don't use vpn for privacy, I just want to explore the for you page of a different country, but sites where I have logged in seems to not work with the vpn, I only get ads from the vpn country

What device are you using and application is it Tiktok?

Oh then YouTube already knows since it collects other information about you as well as like Timezone information so changing IP doesn't really do much, try switching to browser version instead.

I'll try

The YouTube application collects a lot of information about you and your device so it roughly knows your location regardless of you changing IP Address, besides accessing georestricted content the for you page is based on what you watch (which is why ads change) but not the videos cause that's linked to your account.

No
Not even in browser, it asks me to login to view videos,
Yeah then it's probably that you'll have to make a new account and try that instead but to be honest the VPN doesn't do anything. The For you page is linked to your account based on the content you watch the only way to change it is if you make a new one.

I see
But I think vpns work in desktop browsers, your for you page changes when you log off in chrome in desktop, I'll try that

Yeah phones are weird on how they are with VPNs since they don't have really good firewalls lol.

Then whatever
Also I remembered there was a time, when you can use non gmail email, like I used to have a proton mail account, and I was able to log in YouTube with that, but now they are not allowing me to do that, even signing in Gmail with my proton mail isn't possible, says there's some security issue, looks more google is unhappy that it can't view through my account history and make ads for me

Indeed.. Using a google phone is plain old evil...

Buy a "degoogled phone," basically it's clean Android, without google (=spyware) apps of any kind.

Look it up!

If you use a phone ISP, then you are already randomized and in a "block" of other users of that phone ISP system. It's like a VPN, but its not.

Every time you log out of data, you get a new IP number. But its usually in the same IP block (range of IP numbers) as before.

But, if you are using a phone with a built in identity, such as standard Google android or Apple, then they know exactly who and where you are.

If you use a degoogled phone then you are "just another computer" using there services.

However, you cannot use ANY Google apps. Such as YouTube or gmail. They won't work without giving them kyc (know you're customer) information.

I use newpipe to veiw YouTube and I can veiw and download video and MP3, without ads. it's worth the lack of ability to comment.

Use brave browser after setting it up properly.

Oh yeah. On a degoogled phone, you don't get ads, and you get longer battery life.

(Because no constant tracking.)

You get no ads, because they don't know who you are. So they cannot target you.

Ofc, using adblockers, (browser plug ins) like "ublock origin" helps.

There are free and open vpns out there (mostly university ones) that give you a choice of nations to exit from.

Tor used to do that, but its less controllable now.

I just mostly use it to be able to watch porn. Or see how porn ads look in other places

But depending on how much you value your privacy, most of them won't be of any use, as they will gladly hand over your logs and data to LE if requested.

So don't be doing Crimean stuff bro.

And no one GAF about torrenting crimes anymore, so

EBay and etsy sometimes has them.

But look up the concept first, because they have limits. No google means you have to do things differently. More website stuff and less app stuff. Different named apps. Less (paid) games.

You can sideload a lot of stuff, but there's no play store. Instead there's, "F-droid" ( https://f-droid.org/ ) all clean privacy friendly stuff.

Degoogled phones cost more because they are not subsidized with you're identity and personal data.

You can also route through "i2p" it's like a totally different style of tor. Except much faster. But it requires a lot of bandwidth to be fastest. (Like a 2 or 3t WiFi connection) plus, it requires setting up, it's not as simple as tor.

Dude I love you

I installed an app called Pipepipe from f droid, this app is basically youtube with no ads, looks very minimalistic, can view every video of YouTube and download videos I can't in YouTube.

Thanks

Pipepipe! Lol! Glad you like it. Maybe if newpipe ever dies I'll try it.

Any benefits to setting it up over using Tor Browser?
