I think with Japan we have a country with a large population relative to available land. This increases the cost of rent and property and consequently we have a generation of men who lack independence or suitable property for raising a family in. Additionally, working on the Western model of state-craft, women have greater economic freedom, allowing them the time and resources to pursue Chad. These things together at least reduces the desirability of the beta-male. This situation seems to be naturally correcting itself with Japan's population decreasing rapidly, it will decrease to the point where the amount of resources per Japanese beta male increases to the point where he becomes a desirable option for women, however, we would also needs women's economic freedom to decrease, which may occur with a reduction in the number of beta males able to fund the jobs that are provided to women.

I see. Society, as a dynamic system, will push back against the effect once hypergamy exerts itself too much within the system. If we're seeing that pushback now in Japan, then we can build a model and make projections to the US and other countries based on Japan's population demographics and ratios, GDP, and other relevant data. The effects of Japanese culture on hypergamy can be considered negligible, since it's quite Westernized.
