I have read some interesting fiction. Besides Cyberpunk with crashed old internet, i've briefly managed to see Hearts of Iron IV mod: Twilight of the Anthropocene - where technological progress is 20 years+ compared to our timeline. And in these hyper - futuristic lores there's a motive of decentralised internet, full of independent forums, websites, blogs etc.
In ToTa it's described as - simultaneously Warsaw Pact countries & NATO developed their own networks with protocols, and when the cold war has ended in 90's - everyone was left with their own infrastructure, so in order to communicate with the rest of the world - they needed to put work on it. And as in result - internet maintained to be more decentralised, than our social media dystopia.

And it made me thinking - how our lives would look like without this centralised global internet thing? How dating market would behave, if foids wasn't having access to the hypergamic chad reservoir? How brainrot would look like, if there wouldn't be any centralised platform such as JewTube, ChingChong (tiktok) or other Jewstagram?
Our lives would be significantly better, or worse?

Inrernet would be reserved for the first world, high income nations. Alot more illegal and explicit content would be available too I imagine.

I’d like to imagine our lives would be somewhat better cause foids would have less online exposure to htns and chads.

The world would be much better.

I want a great firewall over india and russia

I guess we'll find out with the way internet is going  . Though had it never spread in the first place and been contained to the First World the entire time, the results could be interesting. I wonder if it would stay "smaller" and quiant for much longer, possibly even avoiding the emergence of big social media and other sites that completely took it over entirely? Sure, that was more so just a natural change in how it worked and what types of people used it, but I can't help but think that there being the feeling, and fact, that it had no limit to its expansion apart from total human population also played a part in its commodification, and much would change if there was a set limit to how much it could spread.

The world would be a better place. Harmful ideologies like feminism would be contained within a closed region and unable to poison the entire world. Megacorporations wouldnt be able to spread and amass huge wealth & influence so quickly.
