this is on purpose and seems like a contradiction at first because:

- Jesus has Jewish and Hebrew genealogy, and went by the title “Son of David” even Mary in the original tongue is Mariam.
- but the place he decided to enter human history was culturally Greek, which is pretty hard to argue with. It can be shown in the Gospels that Jesus was quoting the Greek Septuagint.


This is pretty obvious once you consider the facts:

1. the jews call him "the nazarene" as a swear word.
Recall the quote from the gospels "can anything good come from nazareth?" (John 1:46 )

Why did they do that? Because Nazareth was part of a greek trading hub. Jesus more than likely was bi-lingual and grew up speaking greek.
The Jews hated Nazareth and regarded it as foreign, hence calling him "the Nazarene" was derogatory.

2. They call him "rabbi" but thats just like calling someone "sensei" in an anime or something.
Its a status title, has nothing to do with ethnicity.

Galilee was under the control of the Tetrarch, Herod Antipas, the son of Herod the Great. The Galilee region included towns such as Capernaum and Magdala. It was a mixed area, but the dominant language was certainly Greek.

Tiberias is a Greek city that became the headquarters of Herod Antipas on the shoreline near Capernaum. Tiberias was named after the Roman Emperor who ruled at the time. It became the new capital city of Galilee. Religious Jews shunned Tiberias during the time of Jesus, since it was built on top of a cemetery. This made it “unclean” under Jewish law. Yet, this is where Christ created his ministry.
