8chan was popular in 2016-2018 because the board 8/pol/ had more free speech while 4/pol/ was heavily censored, so everyone migrated there. MAGAniggers became mods on 8/pol/ and started banning everyone, then the mods got removed by the admin and free speech was brought back. Eventually the site was shut down after terrant posted his manifesto there. It got brought back as some music fansite or some shit and no one uses it anymore.

8chan is basically like 4chan but you gotta access it through the darkwrb. Its not very niche. You can make your own independent image boards there. Its filled with weird mentally ill people and hikikmoris. I don't like it

while based forums use software called xenforo, they use specific software which is only can be used for shit posts typically LynxChan.
