I'm sure we all had pre-conceived notions about this place before joining, assumptions we made about the culture here that after having become integrated with the
community and establishing a rapport with the many of the users you realised was simply not true.

This is probably more so true for people that were newer to the incelosphere upon joining and lacked any previous exposure. But I'd argue it's true for everyone to an extent.

What surprised me the most is that there are well-respected users of all ethnicities/nationalities here, even Indians and Israelis.

Nobody here seems to care if you're not white, they won't treat you any differently.

According to one of the mods, only about 20% of applications to join this site are accepted. But in 2022 when there were no requirements, I've heard people say that this place was the most active.

Oh yeah it was far more active then now but it was still way smaller then I initially thought and I think the forum was most active from 2017 to early 2019

It’s the only place where I can vent about what it’s like being ugly and short in a trash world like this, but there were a few things on this forum that bothered me a little.

I first found .is in 2022 and started lurking in mid to late 2023 so nothing on here really surprised me.
I was a bit hesitant to create an account at first because it seemed like a honeypot, then in 2024 I finally got the courage to create one but I wanted a cool join date so I decided to wait until December 31, but then on December 31 I forgot about it so I waited another year to finally create my account on December 31, 2025

The founder is black, the whole forum is racist (jokes aside, I don't care where you're from, as long you're an incel whom I can relate to. Saying "nigger" is also very funny to me), a lot of people out here faking their inceldom (a.k.a LARPers) and the rising of Gen Z incels

There are 'accepting' and 'nice' pockets of the userbase but they are the minority.

There are multiple 'cliques' or 'archetypes' (for lack of a better term) on .is and you learn fairly quickly what category each user falls into.

I spent years in progressive communities. It was surprising that incel communities are actually far more tolerant and diverse.
