Awesome, you have great music taste brocel. Shellac, Big Black, Rapeman, Lightning Bolt and 80s Swans are some of my favourites. I also like what I've heard from Cows. Have you heard Melt-Banana?Cherubs, the goslings, daughters , whores, cows, the jesus lizard, shellacs (by extension big black and rapeman), nin (downward spiral only), lightning bolt (amazing band check em out), 80s swans (the modern stuff is post rock but it's still amazing), women, naked city, chat pile, las rallizes denudes, drive like jehu etc.... i got more but this is off the top for now
Yea i actually love melt banana. I forgot about them when writing the list lmao, fetch and cellscape are bangersAwesome, you have great music taste brocel. Cellscape is probably my favourite album from them. I love how "Shield for Your Eyes, A Beast in the Well on Your Hand" is like a version of The Chemical Brother's "Music:Response", but that was probably not intentional though. What do you think of Sonic Citadel? All of Lightning Bolt's releases are great in my opinion but I think that album is a bit underrated.Yea i actually love melt banana. Also, which is your favourite 80s Swans release @DriveLikeNigger? Cop is my personal favourite, I love how just truly dark, bleak and heavy it is. It's cool how "Half Life" is like their version of Teenage Jesus & The Jerks "Baby Doll" as well, it doesn't get much more punk rock than that track.Cellscape is probably my favourite album from them. Sonic citadel for some reason lacked the "punch" of older lightning bolt albums. I felt that The bass was muted and the highs of the distortions were missing for some reasons. The drums were cool as always but i still couldn't fully jive with it. It's decent but it's not a classic. My favorite one would be ride the lightning tbh that one has my favorite lb song "wee ones parade"Cellscape is probably my favourite album from them. Fuck yeah cop is amazing, i listen to it all the time. My favorite is probably job the song off the cop album and for the 80s release it's probably cop the album too. That sludgy guitar riff and gira's screaming is amzing (lyrics go hard)Also, which is your favourite 80s Swans release @DriveLikeNigger? There is definitely something special about Ride The Lightning, St. Jacques is probably my favourite track on that album but all of the mare good really. I think Lightning Bolt's debut self-titled album has its moments as well, "Murk Hike" is a cool and trippy track in my opinion. I didn't care that much for Sonic Citadel when it came out either, but it grew on me a lot over time. It's solid, easy listening in my opinion.Sonic citadel for some reason lacked the "punch" of older lightning bolt albums. I get you but i wouldn't listen to lightning bolt for an easy listening experience lolThere is definitely something special about Ride The Lightning, St. Jacques is probably my favourite track on that album but all of the mare good really. Hell yeah, "Job" has also always been my favourite track on Cop. All the tracks are good on that album, but the title track "Cop" is also one of my favourites. Swans 1982 EP tracks are also cool (the first three tracks on Disc 3 of the Filth Deluxe Edition: Laugh, Speak, Take Advantage and Sensitive Skin).Fuck yeah cop is amazing, i listen to it all the time. Yea young god ep is very nice. Did you know "raping a slave" was actually in the top 50 of kurt cobain's favorite albums of all time?? Which math rock bands/artists do you like? I love Hella and Polvo but I haven't really checked out other bands/artists that are considered math rock, besides Tera Melos I guess. In case you like Hella you should check out Primus as well, that's where Hella got a lot of their inspiration from (pretty obvious once you check out Legs On Earth, the band that preceded Hella. Zach Hill always named Primus as a big inspiration as well).math rock
I listen to all these lol i like zach in all of his iterations (the least being death grips but it's fine he's not really in the spotlight). I love traditional emo-influenced math rock like don caballero , TTNG, polvo, tricot, toe, two knights, brave little abacus and the newfound interest in connecticutWhich math rock bands/artists do you like? I'm not a Nirvana guy personally but yes, I encountered that. It was interesting that he named an obscure Big Black song exclusive to a compilation on one of those as well. Steve Albini even said in an interview that Kurt was at the last Big Black concert and grabbed a piece of Steve's guitar which he smashed, and brought that piece with him to the In Utero sessions. R.I.P. Steve Albini as well man, what a legend. I actually chose my username and profile picture here as a small nod to Steve Albini partially as well, if you can believe that. He made some of the best sounding records ever and he shared all of his expertise on audio engineering freely. Fantastic musician too, Shellac, Big Black and Rapeman are some of my favourites like I said before.Yea young god ep is very nice. Absolutely, i was literally devestated when i heard about his death. Literally the last bastion of the golden days of music, with an amazing catalogue of production and published albums. His works, techniques and funny humour inspired me at a certain time to pick up the guitar and get lost in the art. We lost a true living legends, even though people thought he was a prick (i heard so many retards being angry at the rapeman album and name lol)I'm not a Nirvana guy personally but yes, I encountered that. I like Death Grips but I don't listen to them anymore. I discovered Hella through them, like many others did. I should really check out the math rock artists you named, they are probably really good. Which Polvo releases do you like? My personal favourite of their classic releases would be Exploded Drawing, but I think all of their releases are fantastic. I think their reunion album "In Prism" is great and overlooked, I listen to that one all the time.I listen to all these lol i like zach in all of his iterations (the least being death grips but it's fine he's not really in the spotlight). You should defo check out at least don caballero it's so so good (start with american don and work your way through their older albums) and brave little abacus (start with the demo album it gives you a certain taste for what's to come). Yeah i love polvo and love exploded drawing and today's active lifestyles . Don't hate their reunion album but the old stuff's better lolI like Death Grips but I don't listen to them anymore. Same. The world is just not the same without him. I still think about a lot of the great things he had to say all the time, sometimes it's as if he's still here. Insane how it has soon been two years since he passed already. Some people might have thought he was a curmudgeon or an edgelord (in his younger days), but I think he was an amazingly gracious guy all in all. He was the type of guy who would answer the phone to his studio directly, as well as answering emails from fans. He always kept his prices affordable enough for working-class musicians and bands as well, which is exceptional for someone of his esteem. Real respect for his craft and the people around him.Absolutely, i was literally devestated when i heard about his death. Yea even the pixies didn't mind it when he called them "cows that love being led around by the neck" i can't understand how anyone can't find the humour in his actions.
