What Is Transmaxxing? Everything You Need to Know About The Alt-Right Concept

One unconfirmed theory that is quickly gaining traction claims Robinson is a “groyper” — as some of the bullets were allegedly inscribed with common memes in groyper circles — and that his roommate may have been “transmaxxing.” Rather than speculating about Robinson’s roommate's gender identity — which ultimately does not matter, has no publicly available corroborating data, and is only being used to demonize trans people and further the right’s anti-trans agenda — here’s what you need to know about transmaxxing, groypers, and the black pill.

In order to understand this boneless theory, you’ll need a crash course on incel communities, the alt-right internet, and its lingo.

The term “groyper” refers to the most dedicated followers of Nick Fuentes, a far-right and white nationalist livestreamer. Many of Fuentes’ followers are incels, or involuntarily celibate. In incel circles, the “Black Pill” is the more extreme and nihilistic evolution of the “Red Pill,” an ideology that asserts men are subservient to women’s power in society. Unlike people who subscribe to the Red Pill way of thinking, however, followers of the Black Pill, which started gaining traction in incel forums in 2016, do not want to cope or change themselves to fit into what they see as a society that benefits women. Instead, they feel they must either accept their incel identity or change society.

Transmaxxing is an incel ideology in “Black Pill” circles that stems from transphobia, misogyny, and white supremacy. It asserts that some people should transition for the social benefits of transition, even if they do not feel like their assigned sex is discordant with their gender. In the 14th version of “The Transmaxxing Manifesto,” a disturbing breakdown of transmaxxing as an ideology, author Vintologi writes that “becoming a MtF transsexual is a way better option than being involuntarily celibate as a male,” followed by a string of reasons incels should consider transitioning, such as “being able to extract resources from men,” “softer skin and less/no acne,” “people will treat you better,” and “live longer.”
