Whatever they want it to be essentially allows them to criticize any aspect of your character, all while having plausible deniability; someone unattractive and respectful could be argued to be a deceitful nice guy, while someone aggressive and uncivilized could be argued to be honest and upfront, all because he is attractive; reverse the roles and they simply reverse the argument, hence it can essentially allow them to wiggle out of any confrontation.
