I recently got a second-hand Mac Mini mostly to play Roblox, lol

But hey if I really like it maybe I'll make it my primary computer instead of my Linux one.

I never used it.

It's clumsy and heavy, but simple compared to Windows and Linux. I don't really understand why graphic designers and music makers select macOS if the programs may support Windows, thus cheaper computers. However it's good that there is variety, closed source technology monopolies are a serious threat for freedom and privacy.

I used windows all my life, and when i tried macos the whole interface felt backwards and retarded

Yeah options are nice.

You really realise that when one goes downhill and you need the others as fallbacks!

I used it for quite a long time today although admittedly I was mostly just playing Roblox, lol

Yeah erm... it's very odd. Nice to look at, but odd.

At least to someone who's used to classic Windows and Linux desktops designed to be very similar, like the ones on Linux Mint.

I like the MacOSX, but I don't like Apple's hardware as it is very overpriced and the fact that they do not have nearly as many options for building your own machine as PCs do.

I know some people try building "hackintoshes" I.e. they try running the MacOSX on PC hardware, but it is tricky trying to track down all of the specific hardware you need as well as compatible software drivers and one driver update can make your system incompatible.

It's kind of overpriced but then unlike Windows 11 the OS seems to actually respect you as a user.

Like... it didn't really nag me or advertise to me a single time. Because I've already paid for it.

Windows 11 is ASS. I wish that there was a version of the MacOSX specifically made for PCs from the ground up.

True. Or just a version of Windows with a higher price tag that doesn't have to be monetised like crazy.

So you pay X amount and then it leaves you alone completely to use your PC in peace!

The closest thing to that would be a custom build of Windows 11 called Ghost Spectre. It is Windows 11 with all of the spyware, adware, telemetry, and AI stripped out and you can made it look like Windows 7 if you want.

It’s polished enough to beat Linux but too simple to beat windows. I would recommend macOS for people that want simple without having to deal with Linux bugs and shit not working out of box.

I'm just tired of Windows at this point tbh.

Loads of stuff didn't work on the Mac lol

It had scaling issues, keyboard issues, crazy defaults, etc.

No system is perfect.

OK I just watched this video and... it confirmed what I suspected from years ago that I find the Mac way of doing things... clunky and unintuitive.

HOWEVER I still prefer it to modern Windows because it doesn't force updates and all the other strange things that Windows does.

But I think I'll keep using Linux as my main OS!

Jewish spyware OS

I was gradually learning the basics of it today whenever we were waiting for the next level in my online game!

I guess that for casual users you don't really need to remember all the power user stuff that people talk about in the lengthy macos videos.

As long as I know the basics I can use it just fine especially as I'm mostly just using it to launch a game or two and look up the occasional thing online while I'm gaming!

I prefer Windows because I can't be trusted to own my own data. I like the fact that they screenshot me every few seconds. It makes me feel safe to be watched.

But then again, apple not only scans all files all the time, it also takes a infrared face photo to check on my mood, and reactions to whatever is on the screen. They make windows seem more like closed doors.

lol, wha? :feelsstudy:

It is to me :feelsstudy: :feelsstudy: :feelsstudy:

Go though it and catch up bro...

Google android is just as bad these days...

Only Linux and degoogled android is safe.

Hm. I mean, my Mac uses an offline account and is only signed in on the App Store thingy. :waitwhat:

If its only offline its ok.

Turned off apple phones are still always online and tracked

They have a ble mesh network similar to a radio internet

The camera stuff definitely doesn't apply to me because it's a Mac Mini and it doesn't even have a camera attached to it atm!

But I guess it COULD be scanning my files or whatever.

It's not kept offline but the account I use to log in is a local account not an apple ID.

ignoring file system, it is overall better for productivity especially dev work.

I’d imagine it’s as restrictive as their phone’s OS.

No, it's not! As far as I'm aware.

To be honest I've yet to find a single restriction. But maybe there are some.

homebrew, smoother animations.

Many developers also note that the initial process of setting up a MacBook for software development right out of the box is often relatively faster and easier than on a Windows machine. Perhaps, this might be attributed to the fact that there is relatively better and developer-friendly support on macOS for installing additional languages and tools.

```
this is true imo especialy for CLI style tooling on average.
The terminal is definitely speedy and I think it's generally speaking better on Linux and probably Mac as compared to Windows.
