I personally think that beyond the fact that it is full of troons, fags, dykes(really) furfags, and the whole rainbow gang(Seriously when did this happened?) they're some of the most annoying online communities ever:
-Constantly comparing their game to every other game (Overwatch, Marvel rivals, even LETHAL COMPANY at some point) at least overwatch characters have big ass i want to fuck.
-Run on pure copium and licking the dry smegma of gaben's cock in the form of hats and random workshop garbage content updates
-Game is ok on the humor side but those guys absolutely burn through jokes until they're incinerate:"Teleported bread!!", "synchronize your death watches!! ", they literally keep repeating the same 20 jokes from 2015 like if they were never retarded and never aged past it.
-Attention whores:"Muh save tf2!!", making a shitty SFM animation OF EVERY SINGLE MEME EVER (you know a meme has officially died when someone made a tf2 version.)

The game itself is ok, i got some hours on it but nothing too special nor a "masterpiece", the game is rattly and broken af, most maps are dead, some weapons are basically unusable shit and others are completely broken(And won't get fixed ever tbh.)

Considering it's a game that it's not popular anymore most of the players that remain have dedicated it thousands of hours (because they've been playing for a very long time) so they're experts in their class or have mastered different classes. This makes the game very unforgiving and brutal for new players because the rest of the team already knows the strategy and tricks to win while you the noob just try to survive in the middle of that mess.

I remember I tried playing it when I was 13 because I liked the memes and "meet the *insert TF2 class*" videos and I got absolutely destroyed, literally I couldn't survive more than 10 seconds no matter the class I chose. I gave up one week later, uninstalled and never played that fucking game again.

I had over a thousand hours of TF2 during high school (welp truecellmaxxing). This was a while back.
My take the game is brilliant, it is like chess, the complexity is insane. Until you reach really the very top of competitive TF2, you’ll realize every class is viable with enough skill. Even Sniper and Spy. In fact at the top echelons of competitive, I think the only meta that sort of stuck, was that scout was overpowered a bit 1v1 against any class and Heavy and Pyro are underpowered a bit as a part of a team. Airshotting, rocket surfing, quick scoping, trick stabbing, scout terrorizing are all skills that can easily take hundreds of hours to get good at and much longer to master. The skill cap is really very very high. (My favorite class was soldier btw).

The community, I found competitive TF2 to be toxic, filled with no lifers who put a larger time commitment than me even though I was in high school. And a lot of ragers, and a lot of bullies towards younger players (I don’t blame them, they should just play in their own server). But ig the community was kinda dying already. Jerma, Star were the heyday of TF2 community. I’m surprised it has survived so long, and it might continue to survive because kinda like chess or any competitive game, the skill ceiling is very high and it is fun enough for a newbie to pick up.

Now maybe the community is shiet, idk, still have fond memories of the game but it’s been years since I ever opened up the game.

TF2 was also the first time where in spite of spending hundreds of hours playing and even practicing alone on pvp servers or airshot servers, I never really got all that good at the game. Brut1l blackpill, I really tried too in high school. Luckily academics was way easier and that earned you more money. Others faced the same experience with Dota 2, while normiefags who played COD or FIFA never experience such shit and so still say shit like “with enough effort you can achieve your dreams”. I knew a guy who had 10k hours of TF2 and was only good for Heavy in competitive TF2, arguably the class with the lowest skill cap. TF2 was brut1l and unforgiving.

Yeah it was really terrible with the hackers every match just had a team of bots playing sniper killing you the second you got out of spawn it was ridiculous. Not sure if they fixed it by now or not, but it was one of the few multiplayer games that I really loved.

I still find some gem servers that are non-pc every now and then though, makes me very happy to see that not every player trooned out. The incel to troon pipeline is very easily provable and extremely brutal all you have to do is look at reddit and tf2. Played it from very early 2012-2018 regularly. I have about 2k hours between both of my accounts. I used to be absolutely batshit at playing the Sniper to the point where I used to get kicked from servers every once in a while because people would think I was cheating. Probably because I started maining the Sniper while using my laptop's trackpad.

I liked TF2 the best before 2014/2015. After that, it became full of the most massive fucking faggots on the planet. It became unplayable for me in 2018 eventually because the amount of faggotry in every server I'd join was completely unreasonable. It was all the actual gay shit and gay TF2 fanfics that got popularized on Tumblr in the mid 2010s (2013-2016) that brought all those kinds of people to the game.

I don't generally mind gay people or people from niche fandoms, but the faggotry in TF2 is genuinely like no other. Joining a TF2 server in 2026 is like stepping into a SPED class but everyone in there is a troon cutting their cock off and dilating.

I still come back to it a couple times a year to find more faggotry, but hey, it's generally a good game (unlike Valve's other modern niggershit like CS2) and it gives me good memories on my times in TF2 as a kid. If TF2 had a community like CS2's but without the egotistical faggot closet cheaters, it would be a perfect game through and through.

If only the old dm_mariokart servers were still around. Now those were the good ol' days.

Botting issue is mostly dealt with at this point. IIRC the main guy behind a lot of the bots in the game (Dashie) was arrested after being caught gooning to 'p at his workplace.
