What do you guys think about Bobby Fischer? Was he incel?
i_a_m_i said:He was not incel, however he was a genius. His father was a biochemist and his mother a physician. An example of good genes.

Red Shambhala said:The Glenn Gould of chess, crazy antisemite (partly of Jewish descent himself, afaik), read a book about him once, "Bobby Fisher Goes To War" - an amusing read, also cleaning up some of the myths regarding the chess championship in 1972. Fisher completely overestimated himself, his own influence and the importance of this "cold war" match against a Russian. Kissinger, for instance, is quoted about how politicians back then had many other things to worry about than some chess match. Still, he got famous after it but didn't manage to profit from it, apparently. Got all kinds of offers from companies, tons of money for promoting a "Fisher Chess Set" and things like that, but he was too crazy to use this and make some money. Like Glenn Gould who then only played in his studio and never gave live concerts again. His greatest moment was probably when he played a match in Yugoslavia although the evil US empire had already "sanctioned" this country and prepared to destroy it (what they later really did). For this he then got into all this legal trouble, just for playing a game of chess there. Like so many other crazies he never managed to glimpse behind the curtain but remained on the level of ideological nonsense about conspiracy theories with reptiles, lizard people, jews, etc.
