What do you believe the best Pokémon game was? And which was the worst?

I have a soft spot in my heart for platinum since it was the first one I ever played. But I will admit that black&white and HGSS were better.

Personally think HGSS is a bit better than black and white. You get to catch all the Gen 3 and 4 mons but get to play through the OG 2 regions with updated graphics.

You also get access to both the Johto and Kanto region for a total of 16 gyms. And you get to battle Red at the end too, the ultimate rival… YOURSELF

Thoughts??? What you think is the best game? Also what do you think is the worst?

If talking only about the official games, Pokemon Fire red/leaf green are my favourite. But i like the ROM hacks even better.

I haven't played many of them but all that I have (most of gens 1, 2, 3 and 5) I liked. I don't like more modern Pokemon games (gens 6+).

It's hard to pick my favorite among FRLG, Emerald, Platinum, HGSS and BW2, but it's probably BW2 as it had a great variety of Pokemon.

Objectively yes but XY killed the golden age and i will always hate it for it. It irreversibly changed the series for the worst.

SwSh is just a generic modern Pokémon game at the end of the day

Best FRLG followed by B/W for very different reasons. FRLG was the quintessential Pokémon journey in debatably the best region that has ever been designed but without all the jank of the 1st generation and with all of the modern foundations(barring the physical special split which I see merit in either way) but it's hard to deny that B/W is the peak of refinement for the game series however due to the increased narrative and frequent rival battles somewhat drag down it's enjoyability for subsequent playthroughs and challenge runs

Worst? probably some spinoff I never played, pokemon sleep sounds stupid, worst mainline game could go to numerous different titles though, from original releases to x/y, or s/v.

Despite being a franchise meant for children I have a lot of thoughts to discuss about various elements as time has gone on.

Graphics are a little outdated. Games like HGSS and B&W 1 have pixel art but it is well done and still stands the test of time.

Also the game has no gen 4 or 5 mons
