Each social media generation becomes worse, Facebook was considered bad by OGs back then, but is honestly now desirable compared to what came afterwards.
Instagram was everything that Facebook incorporated but worse (quasi the destilled evils of Facebook), even more vain and even more centred around the rich/beautiful and those who like to pretend to be that.
And it didn't stop: Snapchat came in my generation (as I graduated high school), it was like Instagram (but far faster which makes it even more vain), but it's dead now anyways and the people in the current generation mainly use Tik Tok (which is a worse version of Snapchat).
Each of these platforms was worse than what came before it and incorporated the worst aspects of its predecessor. And we are only at the beginning. Tik Tok won't last for ever, it will soon lose popularity, the worst elements will move to the new platform (so it's a destilled version of everything wrong with Tik Tok) and there the cycle will start again (this will be nutrient medium for the minds of the younger zoomers which will also go through this cycle). It will only get worse. Everything vile gets destilled with each passing cycle.

A girl in uni I considered a friend has just rejected my linkedin connection request. I sent it to her 6 months ago and periodically checked if she had accepted. This is the second friend that did this to me. They have both rejected my facebook request, which is ok I guess, but linkedin too? I don't get that... we have studied together and have been in clubs together, but still they don't want to be related to me even professionally. I hope both girls stay single and end up alone to dwell in misery like I had to.
