I generally think nurture > nature when it comes to height. The reason most young people are much taller than their parents is because of better nutrition and living conditions. My parents grew up in a socialist country, a lot of things were scarce. I was raised eating the best food and I ate regularly and I think this is the reason. Not saying it applies for 100% of the cases, but look at the Netherlands - they were the shortest Europeans 100 years ago and now they're the tallest. What changed? Living standards.

Anecdotally, I was always the shorter and skinniest kid in my school growing up. Had ribs showing and everything, thin frail bones, mercilessly bullied ofc.. I never ate. My mom and dad always kept telling me to eat and forcing me to, but I barely ever ate and they gave up I guess. Grew up skinny af and malnourished. When I was 14 I got into lifting and started eating a shit ton and I think that might’ve contributed to some more normal growth so I got a little taller and my clavicles grew. I wish I ate more when I was younger.. I wish I was a fat kid lol. Nobody told me that height is the most important thing in the world and would determine everything in my life.
