language learning is the best choice for me: there's a very nice feeling of progression (you start out seeing/hearing gibberish and in a few weeks/months, it all starts to make sense), it's very easy to gamify with all the apps around (I recommend ClozeMaster, Linguno, Lingvist, Drops, Anki and LingQ/Learning With Texts -- Duolingo is very popular but not that good imo) and just coming up with little stories to associate words in your memory is pretty fun (I've learned it via Heisig's kanji textbook, but it's a very basic memorization trick) and you can do it for free (you can even pirate textbooks and shows once you get proficient enough)
in general delving into any niche (history, religion, biology) can be fun and done for free if you have internet access
verbatim text memorization (like Scripture memorization) is also a fun past time
meditation is cool but that's just an advanced ldar method, kek
also, maby picking up a cheap instrument like a flute -- I've learned to play some basic ocarina and enjoyed it
