Not really. For the most part in 21st-century America, White and American are synonyms. This contributes to the confusion over Italians, or Irish Catholics, supposedly becoming White in the 20th century. Nah African Americans worked all kinds of jobs, contributed to technological development and they fought for their country in WW1 and WW2.

Abolishing slavery was inherently American thing to do, slavery is based around easy labor exploitation by the elite the kind of which American colonists were trying to escape. US was literally about European peasants abandoning their exploitative shithole in search of a better life.

What the South did was basically the same mindset that plagues ethnics/black countries, where an elite gets easy money from exploitation of a slave class. It’s why the North is noticeably more developed. If the Confederacy won then US would end up stagnant and corrupted (would still be woke and pozzed don’t cope)
