I love Herzog. Some of his prison (death row) documentaries are truly fascinating.

I recommend "into the abyss"

I have often heard his movies are quite good but unfortunately they are completely unwatchable for me. As a German myself I passionately hate every German work of art of the later 20th century.

why?

Because we are not capable of creating our own cultural footprint and put our own national identity in it. German music/movies/tv shows/literature are always just a pathetic attempt to imitate American mainstream culture and temporary trends. It's really sad to see because it was different once. I'm pretty sure I'm doing Herzog wrong here but it's hard for me to change that certain self-loathing perspective.

yea take in mind is one of those films "slow pacing", you may find it boring but the message is simply powerful
