The crime happened in 2008 and the court case was in 2012. However the article is from April and was recommended to me today.

A killer was interviewed on national TV in Brazil during a 100-hour hostage crisis that resulted in the murder of a 15-year-old girl.

But despite the harrowing situation, teenage girls eagerly waited outside the besieged apartment shouting “We love bad boys!"

The lurid coverage of the so-called 'Lover Boy' kidnap drama led to accusations of 'irresponsible and criminal' actions by the media. Rotten Mango podcast host Stephanie Soo explained how a crowd formed outside the apartment of gunman Lindemberg Alves after reports of the stand-off spread.

She said: “In the parking lot there’s about a 100 people almost breaking their necks trying to peer into apartment 24. They’re looking for him …he's a celebrity at this point. Some girls are even coming up to the building and taking pictures. They’re trying to jump as high as they can to get a look inside …they’re screaming ‘Come to the window, please we came to see you. We love bad boys – show us your face!'”

The shocking events began when 22-year-old Lindemberg Fernandes Alves burst into the home of his ex-girlfriend Eloá Pimentel. He held the 15-year-old and three of her friends at gunpoint.

For a few moments, Stephanie says, Alves was silent: “Finally he opens his mouth and says ‘Oh boy, you're all in the wrong place at the wrong time. I came to kill Eloá.”

Alves savagely attacked the stunned teenagers. Stephanie explained: “He slaps the two teenage boys across the face he slams the butt of the gun down on their heads and orders them to sit down on the bed.

“He grabs Eloá by her arm and in front of her school classmates he just starts beating her viciously – kicking her, punching her, slapping her.”

Lindemberg Alves is arrested.

The youngsters sitting on the bed screamed for help – but were stunned into silence when Alves fired his pistol into the ceiling.

He soon released the two boys that Eloá had been doing her homework with, but kidnapped her, and her friend Nayara da Silva, nicknamed 'Barbie' because of her long blonde hair.

Armed response teams and hostage negotiators rushed to the scene. But so did the Brazilian news networks.

Alves was beaming increasingly agitated and dangerous.

On the 16th of October, three days after the initial attack, he decided to release Nayara. However, the young girl bravely volunteered to return to the apartment to try to act as a go-between for the negotiators.

Soon after that, gunshots were heard from inside the building and the Brazilian police’s Grupo de Ações Táticas Especiais (Special Tactical Action Group, or GATE) decided to storm the building.

The found that both girls had been shot in the head. Nayara was seriously wounded and Eloá, who had been shot twice, was declared dead on arrival at hospital.

Alves was arrested at the scene and, in February 2012, found guilty on twelve counts and sentenced to just under 99 years behind bars. Brazilian law, however, limits the maximum jail sentence to thirty years.

I think most Brazilian prisoners are allowed conjugal visits, and not just with a husband or wife. Not sure of the exact rules but no doubt Alves will have plenty of volunteers. Foids love criminals and True Crime. They are disgusted by nice, normal guys.
