SKIERNIEWICE, ŁÓDZKIE VOIVODESHIP, POLAND – DECEMBER 9, 2007 To this day, Poland has been shaken by the mystery surrounding the death of 29-year-old Małgorzata Śnieguła (née Witkowska). She was found dead in her apartment by police after her husband, Sylwester W., was unable to get inside. The apartment was locked from the inside, and the keys were left in the lock. As a result, police officers and firefighters had to enter through a window.
At first glance, the scene looked like a murder – her body showed large bruises, abrasions, and other injuries, including major hematomas. However, the subsequent court-ordered autopsy shocked everyone when it determined the cause of death to be cyanide poisoning. Police then closed the case as a suicide.
Her death divided the public. While some believe the official conclusions of the authorities and argue that they have no reason to lie, others believe she was murdered and that the authorities may even be deliberately hiding evidence. Her father in particular, Kazimierz Śnieguła, points to several inconsistencies: the lack of any packaging or source of the cyanide, her physical injuries, and a possible motive involving her husband. According to him, Małgorzata and her husband had disputes over property and infidelity.
