I'm here with you with an announcement regarding the Center for Countering Digital Hate (CCDH).
For the uninitiated, there was a report published in September 2022 called "The Incelosphere" by the CCDH, which made false, libelous and misleading claims about the forums that I run or had run.
Not only did they claim that the forums were becoming more dangerous, but they also made claims that incels were a danger to children as well, which is false.
I detail the following claims below:
Defamation and False Claims: CCDH has made false claims and defamatory statements about my forums, suggesting that they have been linked to at least one mass shooting. These claims were made without any evidence, yet they were presented to advertisers and infrastructure providers, with the apparent aim of causing harm to our services and suspending them.
Data Scraping and Privacy Concerns: CCDH scraped millions of posts from our forum(s), which potentially contained personal information, further raising privacy concerns and potential violations.
Attempted Deplatforming: In one instance, the CCDH led a campaign against various service providers, including Cloudflare, in an effort to have our services disabled. Additionally, some organizations, including Friends of the Earth, Reclaim These Streets, Stop Online Violence Against Women Inc., Glitch, ProgressNow NM, 5Rights Foundation, Reproaction, Ultraviolet, National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children (NSPCC), GLAAD, and Maura’s Voice, signed onto a letter requesting the deplatforming.
False Allegations and Congressional Involvement: The CCDH's report titled "The Incelosphere" contains false allegations that directly reference me and another founder by name. They have used this report to request Google to derank our websites and have approached members of Congress, including Adam Schiff and Dick Durbin, to take action based on these erroneous claims.
Misleading Media Reports: CCDH has used language analysis selectively, presenting statements such as "Rape posts every half-hour found on online incel forum" to the media, including the Washington Post and the BBC. These reports have cast a negative light on our forum, leading to additional pressure on our service providers.
I believe these actions have significantly impacted our online platforms and communities, endangering our right to freedom of expression and free speech. I see this community and the others that I run as a few bastions of free speech left on the internet, besides Kiwifarms and a few other websites.
We are currently exploring our legal options at this point and these claims are only the tip of the iceberg. There are many other claims that I haven't listed here.
